Green lasers

Utilising an effective non-linear coefficient of 14pm/V, MgO:PPLN can be polished to a length of less than 0.5mm and still provide extremely efficient wavelength conversion (intra-cavity). In addition to minimising price, having such a short length enables stable operation over a wide temperature range.

With the eye being 5x more sensitive to green than red, these green lasers are now being used in portable levellers serving the construction industry. Additionally, being easier to align and far less expensive than crystals such as LBO (Lithium Triborate), MgO:PPLN is commonly used in higher power lasers (up to 3W) for use in laser shows.
