Laboratory Applications
Stratophase products and technologies are providing benefits to scientists and engineers in a wide range of laboratories from biomedical through industrial R&D to optics and photonics. Users are applying our innovative technology in all of these areas to push back the boundaries of knowledge and enable new applications.
Optics
and photonics
Within the optics or photonics laboratory Stratophase provide highly efficient crystals for laser wavelength conversion, together with the accessories necessary to use these crystals on a lab bench. Typical uses of these PPLN crystals include second harmonic generation to convert lasers to the visible part of the spectrum, optical parametric oscillation to convert laser light to the infa-red and producing correlated photons accessories.
Stratophase also supply complete turn-key IR lasers for general purpose lab use. The output wavelength from the ‘Stratolase’ is straightforwardly selected by entering the desired wavelength on a key pad. This allows the experimenter to easily access light at the correct wavelength to perform calibration or alignment tasks around the lab.
Industrial
A common laboratory requirement is to measure refractive index of liquids. This is used for quality control or process optimisation. The SpectroSens system can be used in a lab to measure refractive index to a precision of around 10-6. The system gives results either on screen to the user or direct to an external PC.
Bio-medical
The SpectroSens surface binding sensor is used to study binding affinity and kinetics in real time in a similar manner to surface plasmon resonance systems. SpectroSens provides sensing chips with a glass surface that can be functionalised to bind antibodies, protein or DNA onto the surface. Using the fluidic system, the analyte is passed across the sensor and the SpectroSens device measures the binding in real-time allowing analysis of the affinity kinetics.
